You might know me as Crow or Lex, and I write mostly Hermitcraft fanfic on AO3 as orphancrow. I'm an old Millenial and I live in Australia. I've been in the fandom for a couple of years now, via both Empires s1 and Hermitcraft s8, which I got into via Gem and Pearl. HC8 gave me a Ren Obsession for a while until I got hyperfixated on ConVex (and Cub in particular) and well, here we are. :D

The idea for this grimoire being an Actual Grimoire was something of an accident. I can't remember how it initially started, but I feel like I referenced it somewhere in one of my fics, and then I realised I had an Actual Physical Book I had done nothing with, and decided, what the hell, let's make it a real thing. And so this project began.

The concept of it is that it's set during Hermitcraft s7, being written by Pharaoh Cub. The Vex aren't as pressing these days, and he's got Pharaoh magic to work with now, so he's got time to sit down and write down all he knows about Vex magic. Pharaohs were also great magicians, so it makes sense for him to be writing magical tomes of his own. There are and will be entries by Scar too, but the Scar in this grimoire downplays his magical skills a lot and defers to Cub more often than not. I have two types of handwriting scripts to distinguish them, based on nothing but Vibes. So Cub's smaller and a little scrawlier (which is weirdly similar to how he actually writes) and Scar's is larger and more fluid. I try to use US spelling where I remember, but I've decided not to 'write' Scar's dyslexia, as it were, since I don't feel I could do that with any accuracy. I may drop in Scarisms where I know them, but mostly I'm leaving that alone.

Also Fun Fact: the grimoire has been canonised in Cub's museum not once, but twice. A book with the title, Liber Vex: A Grimoire of Vex Magic written by my Hermit citizen Sagitta the Witch, was added to the library, as was a page from the grimoire itself, the Potion of Withering, with an anonymous attribution to disguise its origins. >_>

You can see a clip from one of Cub's streams a while back where he checks out both books here on my tumblr.
